Radius P1225
Portable 2-Way Radios

The Radius P1225 Two-Way Radio lets you talk on 25 kHz or 12.5 kHz with X-Pand, and we defy you to tell the difference.
It's just a matter of time until the FCC restricts two-way radios to 12.5 kHz, leaving their owners screaming, "What?!" into their mic. The audio quality you get with X-Pand technology is the audio quality you expect from Motorola's 25 kHz.
Sounds good to me.
Radio Service Software
All Radius P1225 radios are synthesized and field programmable. Using the Radio Service Software (RSS) the dealer can program channels, squelch codes, options, etc. to customize the radios to your exact specifications.

Transitions are never easy because people never start them soon enough. The P1225 is here now!

Priority Channel Scan is one of your dealer programmable options. This scan capability lets the dealer create one customized list of channels you want scanned - in the order you designate. This list includes a home base channel, or priority channel that your radio monitors or revisits routinely, searching for activity you deem relevant.
Sine the P1225 scan scan 16 channels in less than a second, missed communications are seldom a concern. This feature can be enabled in one of two ways. You can dedicate one of your 16 channels to priority scanning. This allows you to choose another programmable feature for your option button. Or, if all 16 channels are required, the priority scanning option might be the best choice for your option button.

The P1225 offers Private Line or Digital Private Line. PL/DPL lets the operator receive only the calls accompanied by the radio's code and to place calls only to those that accept the code. This eliminates the possibility of disruptive conversations of others who may be sharing radio frequencies.

Battery Saver extends the life of the battery while in use. This feature puts the radio into "sleep" mode during usage. The rest periods are only a micro second in duration, but even micro seconds add up. You can anticipate up to 10 hours usage from the 8-hour batter.

Battery Status Indicator
Battery Status Indicator uses both visual and audio signals. This handy, built-in audio and visual device lets you know your battery status at all times. This particularly helpful when radios swith hands at the end of a shift. A double beep at power up indicates the battery is fully charged.

AdvantagePort Expandability allows one of various system upgrades to be installed under full protection of warranty. Much like increasing the memory of a computer, the simple installation of any Advantage Board lets you choose from scrambling to signalling features - whichever best improves your company's communication effectiveness - and still have all the assurance of warranty protection.

The battery slides on - not in - for increased durability. If you drop the radio, as most people inevitably do, the battery will not fly off and instead, remains securely in place.

The 6-Character Alphanumeric Display model ends channel confusion Now, you need not memorize who belongs to what channel - or have lists translating the channel numbers. You can use numbers and/or letters to clearly identify each assigned channel. This should eliminate once and for all the formerly common practice of taping tattered call lists to the back of the radio. Display

Busy Channel Lock-Out helps protect privacy. You need not monitor a channel before transmitting because the option disallows transmissions over occupied (busy) frequencies. It also keeps users from monitoring people with different PL or DPL codes.

The Time-Out Timer protects everybody's channel time. You decide on the length of time - up to 255 seconds - at which to set this automatic shut-off feature. Since most transmissions average 3-4 seconds in duration, a longer single transmission usually indicates an inadvertent keying accident (someone's radio is wedged between the seats and the PTT button is jammed on) draining battery life. Or, there's a lengthy conversation going on that needs to be curtailed. The bottom line is, this reduces the chances of annoying busy channels, annoying chatter, and annoying dead batteries.

DTMF Encoding Keypad option gives the 16-Channel model telephone capability. It allows touch tone phone right from your radio.

Vox Headset
Internal VOX allows hands-free operation. When used with a headset, you hands are free to work because your voice, and not the PTT button, activates transmissions.

The P1225 met and surpassed military certification. The P1225 underwent 11 of the rigorous MIL-STD 810 C, D, & E endurance tests and easily distinguished itself. Additionally, the P1225 has passed Motorola's own Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) which simulates years of rugged usage in the field. (What this means is that your employees can accidently drop the P1225 and spill hot coffee on it and you need never worry about it.)

X-Pand keeps a radio that's built to last 25 years from being obsolete in seven because you can switch to 12.5 kHz and preserve audio quality. X-Pand technology actually compresses your voice at transmission. At the receiving end, it expands it while simultaneously reducing extraneous noise. X-Pand technology at 12.5 kHz can actually out perform 25 kHz sound quality, available only in the Motorola 1225 series.

Radius P1225 Portable
The Radius P1225 Portable lets you switch now, switch later, or switch all the time. With the Radius P1225 radio, channel spacing is programmable by channel. Offering up to 16 channels, this portable allows economical, staged migration to the narrower bandwidth across your company's entire two-way inventory.
