Radius SP50
Portable 2-Way Radios

FORM. The leading edge design of the SP50 was developed around one of the most basic elements of portable communications - the hand. With standard and compact models at just over 2½" wide, 1" thick and 6" or 5" tall respectively, the SP50 fits comfortably in the palm of a hand. Its compact size, smooth lines and easily-accessible controls are the result of an engineering commitment to functional form, or the combination of technology and user comfort.

FUNCTION. The design innovation of the SP50 goes beyond appearance. The enhanced features engineered into this compact workhorse make it one of the most versatile two-way radios in the marketplace...without being cost-prohibitive. Built to Motorola's demanding standards, the SP50 can easily stand up to the most rigorous construction or industrial applications. Yet, its sleek design allows it to be used just as comfortable in the security or hospitality industries. To hold the SP50 in the palm of your hand is to hold the perfect combination of form and function.

CHOICE OF TWO MODELS. The SP50 is available in a number of standard and compact 2, 6 or 10 channel models. The standard model provides ample battery life for a full 8+ hour work shift. The compact model provides less battery life in a smaller size radio. Both models have the capability for extended battery life by adding a feature that allows you to switch from 5-Watt VHF or 4-Waft UHF power to as low as 1-Watt.
Each model is fully synthesized for flexibility. This gives you the ability to add certain dealer programmable features such as Time-Out Timer, Busy Channel Lock-Out and variable power levels per channel. In addition, your radio frequency or operating characteristics can be changed as your business changes.

MULTIPLE-CODED SQUELCH CAPABILITY: Private Line or Digital Private Line. The SP50 provides a separate PL/DPL code for the transmit and receive frequency of every channel. This feature allows you to receive only calls accompanied by a specified radio code and place calls to only those that accept the code.

Charger ...
All SP50 models come standard with either a Desktop Charger or Wall Charger, both of which provide a 10-hour charge rate. The optional Rapid Rate Charger provides a 3-hour charge rate.

CONTROL BUTTONS. Each SP50 is equipped with two control buttons located on the front of the radio, labeled "MON" and "OPT". The "MON", or monitor, button performs two functions. It will temporarily disable the PL/DPL feature so that you can monitor all the activity on a particular channel. It can also be used to check the volume level of your radio.

The "OPT", or option, button will perform one of three separate functions depending on how you prefer to have your radio programmed: Channel Scan, Tight/Loose Squelch, or High/Low Power.
Channel Scan, available on the 6- and 10-Channel models only, allows the radio to scan activity on all channels. Tight/Loose Squelch allows you to select additional interference protection in more congested areas. High/Low Power can extend battery life by giving you the ability to switch you radio from high to low power output.

DUEL LED INDICATORS. The TX LED provides solid and flashing red or yellow lights to indicate Transmit, Low Battery Alert, Busy Channel, voice Selective Call or Monitor.
The OPT LED is a green flashing light which indicates the status of Scan, High/Low Power or Tight/Loose Squelch, depending on how your radio is programmed.

SP50 OPTIONAL SIGNALLING ENHANCEMENTS: VOICE SELECTIVE CALL (SelCall). The SelCall option uses Quik-Call II signalling to alert you that you are being paged. Your radio will produce a ringing tone, the TX LED will flash yellow, and a voice message will follow.
DTMF ENCODING KEYPAD The DTMF option enables your radio to access the landline telephone network when used with a properly equipped base repeater system. Its features include 9 telephone number memory locations and last number redial.

MOTOROLA BUILT & BACKED.To assure that the SP50 continues to provide the perfect combination of form and function, Motorola backs each radio with its commitment to quality. Each model must pass the rigors of Motorola's Accelerated Life Testing, simulating years of use in the field. The SP50 also meets tough military specifications by satisfying MIL-STD 810 C, D and E for shock, vibration and protection from the environment. Housings are constructed of a lightweight, high-impact material with the ability to withstand Motorola's demanding drop test. They are also lined with special 0-rings and gaskets to protect the electronic circuitry from dirt, dust and moisture.

Accessories

AUDIO ACCESSORIES. A Choice of audio accessories allows the SP50 to be used in a variety of applications. The Remote Speaker Microphone, Headset, Earbud, and Earbud with Clip Microphone all provide clear, hands-free reception. The Earbud and Earbud with Clip Microphone add the convenience of being able to be worn under a helmet. Leather or Nylon Carry Cases designed specifically for the SP50 help protect it from nicks and scratches.
